SynopsisNo one knows what happens tomorrow…

When Brooke Adams suffers the unimaginable, she knows her heart will never be whole again. Faced with the choice of giving in to her grief, or fighting to regain a resemblance to the life she once knew, she chooses to fight.

Not ready to give up, Brooke starts a new life where no one knows her past. As she slowly puts the pieces of her life back together, Brooke meets her neighbor, Tyler Reynolds. Soon, he becomes her
friend, her rock…and her complicated constant.

Despite her best efforts, she finds herself falling for him, but what will happen if Tyler learns the truth about her past and realizes just how deep the damage is?

The risk might be too much…

What Happens Tomorrow is a moving story of a woman who lost everything but chose to survive and the emotional upheaval she experiences when life offers her a second chance at love.

Brooke Adams once defined herself as many things. Now she's recently moved to California Brooke. She needed a fresh start away from memories of her past, and she and her dog, Charlie, have been coping. Brooke made some new friends - closer than any she'd ever had - but they don't know the truth about her. Now that Tyler is asking for more than friendship, Brooke has to decide if she's ready to really let him in.

Tyler Reynolds is one special man. He's been biding his time waiting for Brooke to be ready to accept what's been between them since the day she spilled coffee all over him. Tyler really is kind and patient and loving with Brooke. He realizes she is hiding something and he's willing to give her the time she needs to trust him enough to share it.

I liked this story, however, it took quite awhile before I made the emotional connection with Brooke I was expecting. The things she'd endured - I should have felt it more profoundly than I did. And I can't put my finger on why I didn't. I did eventually get there buy my emotional response was slow. One other thing that bothered me was the plot line involving Tyler's brother, Ethan. I didn't understand the purpose of that part of the story.

Despite those issues, I found it endearing to watch as Brooke and Tyler's relationship grew. Brooke had a lot of baggage to work through in order to really move on with her life. It was a difficult transition, with lots of guilt and many tears. But Tyler was right there beside her, holding her hand every step of the way. It was his love that assured her it was okay to let go of the past - not forget it - and live and love again.

I appreciated that Ms. Michaels addressed how, following a tragic loss, we sometimes see the past 'through rose-colored glasses'. And I liked how she revealed Brooke's memories which helped her see things in the proper light. What Happens Tomorrow is a touching story of learning to accept that we don't know what tomorrow will bring, and to grasp onto that second chance when it's offered.

  2. This sounds like a well-written and moving story, but unfortunately I think reading it would make me sad. I've experienced some big losses in my life, and I don't need any reminders. I'm glad you enjoyed it though. Have a great weekend Brandee!

  4. Yeah, I don't think this one is for me either. Sometimes I do get in the mood for a deeper, more emotional read, but if I can't connect to the character . . . defeats the purpose. Great review though! Thanks for sharing, Brandee!

  5. It's hard when you can't connect with a character like you *think* you should. This does seem like a very powerful story!

  6. Great review! I have a hard time with romances that try so hard to make their characters have some sort of trauma or family drama or whatever and end up with long tangents that take away from the main story. But it is good that this book turned out great one you finall connected with the main character.
